Aging Skin

A comprehensive approach to reversing the visible signs of skin aging, addressing fine lines, volume loss, laxity, and tone at every level.

Understanding the Concern

Why does skin age and what can be done?

Skin aging is a multi-layered process involving collagen loss, fat pad descent, reduced elasticity, and cumulative sun damage, no single treatment addresses all of it.

Acne forms when dead skin cells and sebum clog follicles, creating an environment where acne-causing bacteria proliferate. Hormonal fluctuations, stress, certain medications, and genetics all play a role. Without proper treatment, acne can leave permanent scarring.

At Florida Aesthetics, we take a physician-supervised approach that combines prescription topicals, professional treatments, and when appropriate, a hormonal evaluation, because treating the skin surface alone rarely provides lasting results for moderate or severe acne.

Comedonal Acne (Blackheads & Whiteheads)
Clogged pores without significant inflammation. Responds well to regular chemical peels, HydraFacial extractions, and prescription retinoids that normalize skin cell turnover.
Inflammatory & Cystic Acne
Deep, painful nodules and cysts caused by infection and inflammation. Often hormonal in nature. Requires prescription treatment (topical or oral antibiotics, retinoids) alongside professional treatments. A hormone evaluation may be warranted.
Acne Scarring
Post-acne scarring comes in two types: post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (dark spots) and atrophic scars (ice pick, boxcar, rolling). RF microneedling and chemical peels can significantly improve both.

How we treat aging skin

We've organized recommendations by priority, what we most commonly suggest first, and what we layer in for enhanced results.

First Line Most commonly recommended for this concern
Medical-Grade Chemical Peels

Medical-Grade Chemical Peels

Best for: active acne, clogged pores, mild scarring

Medical-grade peels (VI Peel Purify, ZO Stimulator Peel) are specifically formulated for acne-prone skin, unclogging pores, reducing inflammation, and fading post-acne marks. A series of 4–6 peels produces significant improvement.

Common Questions

aging skin treatment FAQ

Prevention is always easier than correction. Many patients start with neurotoxins and medical-grade skincare in their late 20s to early 30s. Fillers and laser treatments are typically added in the 30s-40s as volume loss and sun damage become more visible. There's no wrong time to start, earlier intervention typically means less treatment is needed.
Not necessarily. Modern injectables (Botox, Juvéderm, Sculptra) combined with energy devices (BBL, Halo) can achieve significant lifting, volumizing, and resurfacing results without surgery or downtime. For patients considering surgery, non-surgical treatments are an excellent first step.
It depends on the treatment. Botox lasts 3–4 months; fillers 12–24 months; Sculptra 2+ years; laser results can last years with proper sun protection. Most patients maintain results with annual or biannual touch-up appointments.
Yes, and this is often recommended. A comprehensive anti-aging plan typically combines neurotoxins (expression lines), fillers (volume), laser (skin quality), and skincare (daily maintenance). Your provider will build a customized plan based on your specific concerns and timeline.
Many patients who have failed OTC treatments succeed with a properly supervised medical regimen, particularly if they've never had a prescription approach or addressed potential hormonal contributions. We can't promise results before seeing you, but we do promise an honest evaluation and a customized plan, not a generic protocol.
We address active acne first. Treating scars with RF microneedling or laser in the presence of active acne can worsen breakouts and is not recommended. Once acne is well-controlled, we can begin a scar treatment protocol. Your provider will give you a sequenced plan at your consultation.
