Volume Loss
& Hollow Cheeks

As we age, the fat pads that give the face its youthful fullness migrate and shrink. Strategic volume restoration with fillers can turn back that clock, without surgery.

Understanding the Concern

Volume loss is the hidden driver of facial aging

Most people notice "looking tired" before they can name exactly why. Often, the real culprit isn't wrinkles, it's volume loss in the cheeks, temples, and under-eye area.

The face naturally loses collagen, fat, and bone density starting in our 30s. The midface flattens, cheekbones become less defined, under-eye hollows deepen, and the lower face loses support, causing jowling and deepening of the nasolabial folds.

At Florida Aesthetics, we use a layered approach to volume restoration: strategic hyaluronic acid fillers for immediate correction, and collagen-stimulating treatments for long-term structural improvement.

Midface & Cheek Hollowing
Loss of the cheek fat pads causes the face to appear flat and tired. Cheek filler restores projection and creates a natural lift that softens nasolabial folds simultaneously.
Temple & Under-Eye Hollowing
Temples lose volume early, creating a skeletal appearance. Tear trough hollows under the eyes deepen shadows that make patients look chronically fatigued, even after a full night's sleep.
Lip Thinning & Perioral Lines
Lips thin with age and the vermilion border blurs. Lip lines (smoker's lines) form from collagen loss and muscle movement. Filler restores lip shape and volume; neurotoxins address the lines themselves.

Common Questions

Volume restoration & filler FAQ

Only if overfilled or placed incorrectly. Our philosophy is always to restore, not to overdo, we use conservative amounts, reassess at 2 weeks, and can always add more. Our patients routinely hear "you look great" without anyone being able to identify exactly why. We start conservatively with all new patients.
It depends on the product and the area. Juvederm Voluma for cheeks can last 18–24 months. Lip fillers typically last 6–12 months. Under-eye fillers 12–18 months. Sculptra effects last 2+ years. Your provider will give you product-specific expectations at your consultation.
FDA-approved HA fillers have an excellent safety record when injected by trained providers. Serious complications are rare. We use only brand-name fillers (never gray-market), and all injections are performed by licensed, medically-trained providers under physician supervision. Common side effects are swelling and bruising, which typically resolve within a week.
This varies enormously by individual, facial anatomy, degree of volume loss, and aesthetic goals. A general starting point is 1–2 syringes for the midface, but some patients need more over multiple sessions. We never upsell beyond what is clinically warranted. Your provider will give you a specific recommendation at consultation.
Yes, hyaluronic acid fillers (Juvederm, Restylane) can be dissolved with hyaluronidase enzyme if needed. This is one of the major safety advantages of HA fillers over permanent or semi-permanent options. Sculptra and Radiesse cannot be dissolved, which is why HA fillers are our first recommendation for most patients.
